In today’s post, I’ll be sharing 3 steps to reprogramming your subconscious mind. I got these 3 steps from an email that was sent to me by Lewis Howes(author of “The School of Greatness“).
Remember this: Your conscious mind may know what you want, but your subconscious patterns often influence what you repeatedly do.
If you want lasting change, you have to do more than set new goals. You have to examine the beliefs, habits, emotional patterns, and assumptions that are driving your automatic behavior.
I share a video at the end of this post, where Lewis Howes sits down with Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, a cell biologist who spent years proving a cell’s environment shapes it more than its genes do. He built the rest of his career on the idea that your subconscious, the beliefs installed in you before you were even old enough to question them, works as that same environment for your entire life.
“Your conscious mind isn’t running the show. Your subconscious is.”
Your conscious mind holds your wishes and desires. Your subconscious is a hard drive of programs, recorded mostly before you turned seven, and it runs 95% of your day.
The good news is a program can be rewritten in 3 steps, according to Dr. Bruce:
Step 1 – Program your mind overnight.
Right before sleep, your brain drops into the same wave state it lived in as a child, the one that made you so programmable in the first place.
Put on a recording of the belief you want installed right as you’re falling asleep, and let your subconscious take it in overnight.
Step 2 – Repeat the belief while you’re awake.
Most people undo this step without realizing it.
There’s a difference between saying “I will be confident” and “I am confident,” because your subconscious mind’s whole job is to make reality match whatever it’s holding as fact.
Step 3 – Stress test whether it’s actually working.
Cross your arms or your ankles. Bruce says this integrates the two sides of your brain, close to the state you were in as a kid.
In that position, repeat the belief and notice what you feel. The first few times, you’ll likely feel resistance, your body being honest it doesn’t buy it yet.
Keep going until that feeling actually shifts, and it’s not just a metaphor.
Watch this video below. I hope you get some value from it as I did.
