In today’s post, I’ll be discussing the power of choosing to be happy.
Every morning, when you wake up, you get to choose how you’re going to live that day. Happiness doesn’t happen automatically—it’s a decision you make daily. Don’t wait to see what kind of day you’re going to have. Decide what kind of day you’re going to create.
Make up your mind first thing in the morning that you’re going to live that day with joy. If you don’t decide how you’re going to live, your circumstances will decide for you. Choose to enjoy the day you’ve been blessed with. Live your day happy.
If you’re going to be happy, you have to be happy on purpose. There will always be people, situations, and disappointments trying to steal your joy. Don’t let what’s not working out cause you to become bitter or sour. Protect your peace.
Your will is more powerful than your feelings. Don’t wait to feel happy before you choose to be happy. Decide first, and your emotions will begin to follow. Let your will override your feelings. One of the greatest signs of maturity is learning to remain joyful even when life isn’t going your way.
Don’t postpone your happiness. There will always be reasons to complain, worry, or become discouraged. Instead, make the decision that you’re going to be happy today.
If you can’t be happy where you are, you’ll probably struggle to be happy where you want to be. Learn to find joy in the present moment. Don’t allow your circumstances to steal your happiness.
Your happiness is ultimately your responsibility. It’s not determined by other people or by your situation. You’re as happy as you choose to be.
Life becomes far more enjoyable when you intentionally choose joy. You are in control of your attitude, your perspective, and your response to life’s challenges.
Sometimes there may be nothing good about your circumstances, but you can rest in the assurance that the most powerful Force in the universe is on your side. That’s reason enough to keep your hope alive.
Get your joy back. Be grateful that you’ve been entrusted with another day of life. Choose to live it fully instead of merely getting through it.
Start every morning with a song of praise and a grateful heart. Decide before your feet hit the floor that you’re going to live this day with joy.
If you’re going to stay happy, you may have to tune some things out. You can’t constantly feed on negativity and expect to stay full of faith. Guard your mind. Focus on what’s good, true, and hopeful.
Our thoughts have a tremendous influence on our happiness. As long as you dwell on your hurts, your disappointments, what you didn’t receive, or how you were overlooked, you’ll remain discouraged. Instead, think happy thoughts. Don’t replay what didn’t work out—focus on what God is still doing in your life.
Wake up each day and declare:
“Today is going to be a great day!”
When you think happy thoughts, you lift your spirit and position yourself to accomplish great things. Keep thinking victory even when you’re facing defeat. Refuse to let your current circumstances limit your vision.
Every morning, remind yourself:
“I’m happy. I’m grateful. I’m blessed.”
The happier your thoughts become, the happier your life will be. Don’t let negative circumstances talk you out of living with joy.
Stay full of joy and keep a smile on your face. You’ve been blessed with another day to pursue your dreams, love your family, and make a difference in the world. Don’t take today for granted. Don’t let little things steal the gift of this day. Make the most of every moment.
Remember these wise words from Abraham Lincoln:
“Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.”
Today, choose joy. Choose gratitude. Choose happiness.
I came across this video by Joel Osteen(author of “Rediscovering the Forgotten You“) sometime ago and have watched it a couple of times. I hope you enjoy it as I did and apply what Joel talks about.
Go out today and make life an adventure.
